American Legion: “We Believe”

The American Legion has launched a new campaign titled “We Believe”. From American Legion National Headquarters:

We Believe is a new PSA from The American Legion. The PSA shines a light on the values of the organization — patriotism, a strong national security, support for all veterans and a strong desire to turn today’s youth into tomorrow’s leaders.

Through historic and current imagery, We Believe highlights Legionnaires in action and shows the impact of hundreds of American Legion programs and activities that strengthen the nation.

For 100 years, veterans have been building our nation through The American Legion. We believe it makes a difference. We invite you to join us by airing the We Believe PSA.”

Boys State 2018

Post 316 would like to congratulate our 2018 delegates to Florida Boys State. We sent ten delegates to Tallahassee this year. Eight of the boys so far have submitted letters of appreciation discussing their experience at Boys State. Please stop by the Post office to read these letters.

Post 316 would also like to congratulate Delegate Alex Cywes for his selection to Boys Nation. This selection is very prestigious, as only two delegates from each Boys State program are selected to attend Boys Nation in Washington, DC.

American Legion Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students. A participatory program in which students become part of the operation of local, county, and state government, Boys State was founded in 1935 to counter the socialism-inspired Young Pioneer Camps. The program was the idea of two Illinois Legionnaires, Hayes Kennedy, and Harold Card, who organized the first Boys State at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.
